PennDOT prepares for yet another winter storm

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - February 25, 2010

PennDOT spokeswoman Karen Dussinger says a special response team in western Pennsylvania left at 4 a.m. Thursday to help treat Interstates 84 and 380 in the Poconos, expected to be hardest-hit by the storm. Six plows, a snowblower, and 14 workers are expected to arrive by noon to supplement PennDOT assets already in the area.

She says it's possible that eastern Pennsylvania interstates will have to be shut down, just like they were during the mid-February blizzard.

Hundreds of schools in eastern Pennsylvania have closed in anticipation of the storm, which could bring a foot or more of snow to areas that have already seen a record-breaking winter.
