Victim identified in fatal Schuylkill crash

FAIRMOUNT PARK - February 27, 2010 Investigation by police have revealed the following information about the fatal accident.

Police say the crash happened as a Toyota Camry driven by a 24-year-old Jenne Ham from Philadelphia was traveling in the right lane as a tractor trailer driven by 24-year-old Luis Ferrer-Figueroa from Clark, NJ, was traveling in the center right lane.

Ham attempted to make a lane change from right to left. Unable to make the lane change, she veered to the right and struck the concrete barrier. The impact forced Ham back into traffic and under Ferrer-Figueroa's trailer.

Ham's vehicle became stuck under the trailer and was dragged for approximately 100 feet. This also forced her Camry onto its roof.

The Camry came to rest on its roof in the center left lane facing east.

The tractor-trailer was able to continue west on 76 before coming to a stop.

Ham was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where she was pronounced dead.

The three passengers in the Camry, a 27-year-old, another 24-year-old, and a 5-year-old were transported to Hahnemann Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The accident caused major traffic headaches on the Schuylkill Expressway as traffic was stopped for over an hour as State Police conducted an investigation.
