Gambling down, drinking up

LAS VEGAS (AP) - March 2, 2010

The sagging economy is taking a toll on gambling and hotel stays in Las Vegas.

But visitors are still boozing it up.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board reports alcohol sales are up five percent in the Strip's 38 largest casinos.

But gambling was down 32 percent last year, along with sizable drops in room rentals and food sales.

Vegas visitors are also getting fewer freebies.

The casinos report their comped drinks are down by two percent.
