Three people suffered gunshot wounds after bullets started flying inside a Northeast Philadelphia gym Tuesday night.

Shots rang out inside the World Gym fitness center shortly before 8:00 p.m.

Witnesses and police say an argument erupted over the score of a pickup basketball game.

Mujahid Muhammad, of the 100 block of Montgomery Avenue in Bala Cynwyd, allegedly got on his cell phone. Minutes later several friends arrived at the gym. Police say Muhammad then began attacking Anthony Ellerbe of Cherry Hill.

Police say, a short time later, one of Muhammad's friends began shooting.

When the smoke cleared, two men lay wounded. Ellerbe suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. His friend, Zsaron Simpson, was shot once in the stomach.

During the confusion Muhammad was even shot, suffering a graze wound.

Police say Muhammad and the other men all ran from the gym to a brand new Buick parked outside. Police stopped the car along the 4600 block of Roosevelt Boulevard. Muhammad was the only one in the car, and he was taken into custody.

The other men, including the gunman, are at large.

Muhammad is not cooperating with investigators, police say. He is charged with Attempted Murder, Criminal Conspiracy, Aggravated Assault and other related offenses.

Ellerbe and Simpson are recovering at Aria Health Torresdale in stable condition.

Card scanners used by members to enter the gym were not being used at the time of the shooting. However, surveillance cameras may have captured the suspects entering the gym earlier or fleeing in the seconds after the gunshots rang out.
