NJ cook accused of putting hair in cop's sandwich

EVESHAM, N.J. - March 4, 2010

Ryan Burke was arrested Feb. 21 in the kitchen of Good Foods to Go in Evesham.

Burke had just served a bagel sandwich to a police officer who had ticketed him in March 2009 when he failed to pull over for a traffic violation.

The 26-year-old says he didn't intentionally put anything in the lunch of the officer, whose name has not been released.

"I wouldn't do something like that; it's stupid. It's idiotic, I mean, hair in a sandwich, really? That's not funny," Burke told Action News.

The cook spent four hours in jail before his wife bailed him out, and was fired from his job.

The Courier-Post of Cherry Hill reports police asked them not to report the incident for fear of copycat crimes. The paper published the story anyway.
