HAVERTOWN, Pa. - March 4, 2010

It happened at around 2:30 this afternoon at the intersection of West Chester Pike and Eagle Road in Havertown.

Witnesses says a group of 5 or 6 middle school students were passing through the area. They say one had a baseball bat or broomstick and another was pitching rock sand to hit onto the roadway.

Police tell Action News this appears to be an avoidable accident where the driver was not able to stop in time with the kids darting into trafffic.
