Body found in Warminster pond

WARMINSTER, Pa. - March 5, 2010

"While they were conducting the search, they discovered a body floating in the pond in the community park," Chief of Police S. Michael Murphy said.

The body was found around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Veterans Way and Johnsville Boulevard.

Warminster Police called in the fire department to assist. They needed a boat, a basket, and cold weather equipment to retrieve the body from where it was positioned in the deep water.

The recovery operation took two hours.

Police can't say yet how long the man might have been in the pond, but based on his clothing, it may have been awhile.

"He's wearing clothes that would be from a warmer time of year," Chief Murphy said.

It doesn't appear there's any foul play, but the man will undergo an autopsy to see if police can learn more.

The man is described as being Hispanic and possibly in his early 20's.

"It doesn't appear anybody's reported him missing, at least here in Warminster Township; obviously, there are a lot of municipalities in fairly close proximity to the location," Murphy said.

Since the man didn't have any identification on him, police are working on a more specific description in hopes that someone will recognize him.
