At the scene, they found a 58-year-old off-duty water department employee suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
The victim tells police a man came up to him while he was at the mechanic's shop getting his car fixed.
According to the victim, the man then robbed him of $1,000 meant for the mechanic. The suspect fled on foot.
The man was transported to Temple University Hospital. He is listed in stable condition.
Police are investigating.
