New Castle County Police say a domestic dispute was reported at about 8:30 a.m. in the Brandywine Building on Freedom Road, at the Lexington Green Apartments.
The people involved were said to be a man and a woman, and police were worried the man was armed with a gun.
When police arrived no one answered the door of the apartment where the man and woman were believed to be, but police believed they heard movement inside.
Police surrounded the building and the SWAT team was dispatched.
Around 12:00, officers went into the apartment but found no one inside.
At approximately 12:40 p.m., the female victim was located unharmed. Police learned she had, in fact, engaged in an altercation with a male subject and the threat of a gun was mentioned.
Investigators are currently interviewing the victim and attempting to identify the man she was with.
