Department officials say they are searching for about 40 people wanted for various offenses. Police Chief Norman R. Barlow says the charges associated with the warrants range from felonies to misdemeanors, such as unregistered sex offenders, thefts, arson and drugs.
Some of the warrants date back to 1998.
Deputy Chief Keith Shyers says people who are wanted are encouraged to turn themselves in.
The Harrington Police Department will post its active warrant list on the city's new Web site when it is launched and the department is working with the Delaware State News to get the word out.
