That's what some store owners in Santa Cruz want.
Pooches have been banned in the downtown area of the California coastal community for more than 30 years.
Now, merchants hope more shoppers will come downtown -- if they can bring along their four-legged best friends.
The Downtown Association board has voted 8-1 to recommend the City Council lift the ban for a six-month trial period.
But canines would have to be gone by dark, and be on leashes, too.
