Wardrobe Boutique to host swap parties

SPRING GARDEN - April 14, 2010

The charity is The Career Wardrobe, and the swap party location is the community room at their Wardrobe Boutique store at 19th and Spring Garden streets.

"Our store is kind of like a giant swap party because people donate their clothing and accessories that they no longer can use, but other people can use them becaue they're still in great condition and they're still fashionable," explains Melanie Frazza.

Shoppers who might be interested in a swap are asked to fill out a sheet with their name, clothing size and other pertinent information.

"Once we pull together all the information, we're going to send out an email to the ladies and say, 'Hey, we're having a swap party, please come out and join us.' " explains Yonay Taylor.

"And also if people want to have private swap parties with their group of friends, instead of strangers that we pick out for them, they can come here and for $5 per person, have their own private swap party," Frazza adds.

The admission money goes to Career Wardrobe, and any clothing items leftover from the swap are donated to be sold at the store. Plus, swappers can also be shoppers. They can shop at the Boutique, even if it's after hours.

"It's a great way to get out," Taylor says. "Even if you just want to have a different kind of girl's night out."
