Mom lashes out during toddler death trial

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - March 19, 2010

/*Rimma Shvartsman*/ apologized on the witness stand Thursday for the death of 2-year-old Daniel Slutsky. That drove Lyudmila Slutsky to lash out at her.

Lyudmila Slutsky rose from her seat, saying Shvartsman wouldn't be putting the family through a trial if she was truly sorry.

Security officers removed Slutsky from the courtroom.

Shvartsman was the owner of Fairy Tales Daycare in Penndel, Bucks County.

Authorities say, back on July 1, 2009, Shvartsman picked up /*Daniel Slutsky*/ at his home and drove him to the daycare.

But, prosecutors say, she forgot about the child and left him in the van for hours.

When he was found, Slutsky's body had a temperature of 108 degrees. He also appeared to have let himself out of a car seat in an attempt to escape the van.

Shvartsman is charged with involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child.

The boy's parents have filed a lawsuit against the day care center.

Shvartsman's lawyers say a health scare contributed to a memory lapse.
