Always check for coupon codes

Woroch represents several other online shopping sites as well. All are designed to save shoppers money.

"The internet makes it easy to compare products to compare prices among competitors' stores, and look for a sale," she explains. "And then, now that you can find online coupons, you can get an even better deal on these sales."

To find codes, you can "Google" the retailer's name and words "coupon" or "coupon codes", or you can directly to sites that compile and list codes and search the retailer's name there.

Woroch suggests the sites promotionalcodes.com or couponwinner.com, but other sites include retailmenot, couponcabin, current codes, or -- of course -- the codes and coupons page on 6abc.com, which I update every day.

" In some cases, you may be able to take advantage of multiple deals in one transaction," Woroch says. "Some retailers allow you to stack coupons, which means using more than one online coupon or code at a time, so maybe it's 25% off coupon on top of a free shipping code."

Those are the "Do's" But there are also some "Don'ts" when it comes to using coupon codes online.

Don't give out your personal information to coupon sites, don't buy things you don't need just to qualify for coupons and don't feel you have to pay to save.

"There are some sites that are trying to cash in on this, the economy and everyone's looking for saving, so they're trying to sell you coupons," Woroch says. "But coupons are made to save you money and they shouldn't cost you anything."
