Key pieces update Spring wardrobe for less

LIMERICK, Pa. - April 19, 2010

"It's all about mixing and matching," says Keri Graddy of the Philadelphia Premium Outlets. "Getting some great essential pieces for a great price and then mixing them with what you have in your wardrobe and some key pieces to freshen up your look for Spring."

Graddy has honed in four big trends this spring and found pieces to get them into your wardrobe for less than $50 each.

The first trend is bright colors, like burnt orange. Model Brittany shows it in a sheath dress (Retail $150/Outlet priced $49) and cardigan (Retail $99/Outlet priced $47) from Banana Republic.

"We're actually seeing Spring versions of what we considered the hot trends in winter which were the jewel tones," Graddy says. "So you're going to see those purples, turquoises, oranges, nice warm, fun seasonal colors."

The bright colors are balanced out by the second trend -- which is grey. Model Kira wore grey pants (Retail $79/Outlet $29) and a ruched grey t-shirt (Retail $49/Outlet priced $29) from Banana Republic, paired with a turquoise scarf and purse.

"We're seeing grey as the new black for the spring," Graddy says. "And what that does is creat a nice, neutral palette, and you can jazz it up with any kind of accessory that you like."

The third trend is shorts -- and not just for play. Model Helen showed a pair of grey linen shorts from Gap ((Retail $40/Outlet priced $18), with a neutral cardigan (Retail $58/Outlet priced $29) and shirt (Retail $50/Outlet priced $23). It's a look that's even going to be seen in the workplace.

"We have seen shorts making their way into that casual workplace atmosphere." Graddy says. "Jazz them up with a really nice pair of shoes and a great bag, a great top that's maybe a little bit more professional, and I think you'd have a great look going into the office on casual Friday. "

The final trend is polka dots -- like the ones in model Emily's dress from Ann Taylor Loft Outlet (Retail $95/Outlet priced $47).

To look trendy, without buying a whole new wardrobe, Graddy suggests, "You can take those essential pieces and pair them with what you already have in your wardrobe."
