Mayor Michael Nutter and other top city officials took a stroll on South Street on Saturday night, united in their message to texting teenagers who join in "flash mobs."
One week prior, hundreds of young people, participating in a flash mob, over-ran South Street.
Video posted on Youtube shows bystanders being punched and knocked down. Merchants locked their doors and police were called.
During his walk, Mayor Nutter said South Street welcomes law abiding citizens of all ages.
"But we don't have any time for nonsense, and we won't tolerate it. There is zero tolerance for that kind of behavior and activity. That really is the message: Come out, have a ball, behave like you have some sense," said the mayor.
Law enforcement echoes that message and reminds young people that 29 teenagers face felony charges from earlier incidents.
Police are urging parents to take responsibility for their children's behavior and cell phone use... And warn if they don't, they could face criminal charges too.
