Officer in crash responding to shooting

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - March 31, 2010

It all began at around 3:15 p.m. when police responded to the 2000 block of S. Hemberger Street after a report of shots fired.

Three to four males were seen fleeing in a tan vehicle.

Officers later found a male with a gunshot wound to the head. He is listed in stable condition.

Meanwhile, an officer responding to the incident was involved in an accident in the area of 21st Street and Snyder Avenue. The officer was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for treatment.

The officer and another person involved in the crash are said to be in stable condition.
