Who hit and killed Frances Gordon?

April 3, 2010 Eve Gordon helps keep her mother's memory alive by telling her two sons stories of her life.

85-year-old Frances Gordon was a Holocaust survivor, who walked 6 miles a day and took ballroom dancing classes.

Her routine included daily trips to the library a mile from her Elkins Park home. That's where she was leaving the evening of Monday, November 30.

"She called me about 5 minutes before the accident and she said I'll see you tomorrow," Eve said.

It was about 5:00 p.m., dark and raining when Frances tried crossing the street at Church and Old York Road. As she crossed she was hit by a van.

"The driver got out and looked at her and then drove away and two other cars drove around her," Eve said.

Frances died from her injuries.

Police are looking for a white man, about 45 to 55-years-old, who is tall, thinly built, clean shaven and has short white or gray receding hair.

The vehicle is described as a possible 2000 - 2007 Ford white cargo work van with rear tinted windows, a slotted silver rectangular grille and no markings or lettering on the sides. The van may also have minor front end damage to the front driver side end and grille.

"I'd love for him to think about his own mother or sister or any other female loved one for that matter and someone leaving them in the street after they saw that she was injured," Eve said.

The family has put together a $10,000 reward for information leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

"Please call, please do the right thing," Eve said.
