Police: Del. man shoved officer, rammed police car

EDGEMOOR GARDENS, Del. - April 2, 2010

The confrontation happened around 5:00 p.m. Thursday in the area of Edgemoor Gardens.

Officers say they tried to pull over a gold Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by 43-year-old Clifton Packer, after witnessing a traffic violation.

Police say they pulled over the vehicle and removed Packer from the SUV. They say that's when they smelled a strong odor of marijuana.

As officers were speaking to Packer, they say he pushed one of them then jumped back in his car. While fleeing, police say Packer intentionally rammed a marked police cruiser.

Police began a pursuit onto I-495, but say they broke it off because Packer was driving too dangerously. He was last seen driving into Pennsylvania.

His SUV has Delaware license plate PC233411.
