NJ man dies in Princeton canoe accident

PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) - April 5, 2010

According to police, the man's canoe capsized about 3:45 p.m. after becoming stuck in submerged branches. His body was recovered a few hours later by divers in 20 feet of water.

Two other men in the canoe were rescued by passers-by on the nearby canal towpath.

Police say none of the men were wearing life jackets as required by the canoe rental company.

The name of the drowning victim is being withheld pending the notification of his family.

The incident comes two weeks after a Princeton Borough man disappeared while canoeing with his son on the Delaware River in West Amwell. Chris Baldwin is presumed dead. His son survived.
