Wade Featherson, 24, of Salem, Ill., is in police custody following the death of Robert Castello, 37, also of Salem.
It was around 12:30 p.m. Friday when authorities were called to a room at the Ramada Inn at 2216 W. Landis Avenue for a report of an unresponsive person.
Medics arrived to find Castello dead on the floor. Police say he had injuries to his head and face.
Police say he, along with Featherson, had checked into the hotel on Thursday for a business seminar.
Featherson is charged with aggravated assault and endangering an injured person by not calling for first aid.
An autopsy on Castello was performed over the weekend and results are pending. Additional charges may be filed.
