Camden County prosecutors say 44-year-old Michael Van Clark of Camden is charged with murder in the death of 74-year-old Thomas Marinelli. If convicted, Clark could face a life sentence.
Clark allegedly kicked in the door of Marinelli's home on Aug. 4 and dragged him out of bed. He then beat Marinelli and left him for dead before fleeing with between $270 and $300, authorities said.
Marinelli then lay injured in his home until a neighbor discovered him the next morning and called 911. But Marinelli soon slipped into a coma and died Aug. 23.
It was not clear Sunday if Clark had retained an attorney.
