Higher ed, community affairs budgets up for review

TRENTON, N.J. - April 14, 2010

Democrats on the Assembly Budget Committee have raised concerns that the plan would raise property taxes an average of $250. That increase doesn't include a proposed $819 million cut to school districts.

New Jersey's property taxes are already the highest in the nation, averaging more than $7,000.

Christie's plan for colleges and universities slashes aid by $173 million. A college scholarship program is among the items targeted for cuts.
