Philly auto dealer faces federal tax charge

PHILADELPHIA - April 14, 2010

U.S. Attorney Michael Levy says the single charge involves tax years 2003 and 2004 and stems from the 45-year-old Barbera's operation of Gary Barbera Chryslerland and Gary Barbera Dodgeland. He says Barbera underreported income from his businesses and used it to pay personal expenses, "causing a tax loss of approximately $77,675."

Levy said "The license to run a business is not a license to avoid paying taxes like the rest of us."

A message left for Barbera at Gary Barbera Chryslerland was not immediately returned Wednesday.
