Locals killed in Georgia military crash

On Monday the jet, based in Pensacola, Florida, crashed on a routine training mission in northern Georgia, about 80 miles north of Atlanta.

Four people were killed and tonight the Navy released the names of the victims.

Among them: 26-year-old Marine First Lieutenant Shawn Nice of Levittown, Bucks County and 25-year-old Navy Ensign Zachery Eckhart of Orefield, Lehigh County.

They were in a T-39 training jet like this one.<27> The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

The T-39N went down just before 4:30 p.m.

According to the Associated Press, the plane was part of Training Air Wing 6, which conducts routine cross-country missions through Fannin County, where it crashed, about two hours north of Atlanta, on the edge of the North Carolina and Tennessee borders.
