Slots raise $773 milliion for property-tax cuts

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - April 15, 2010

The average reduction of $200 per household is about the same as last year's figure, although Gov. Ed Rendell says more of this year's revenue came from actual gambling and less from casino-license fees.

To capture the savings, homeowners have to sign up through their counties for the state's "homestead exclusion" program. Under the program, the reductions are subtracted from homeowners' tax bills before they are mailed out.

Nearly 2.7 million households shared in the savings last year.
