Alfred Dean, 77, of Chesilhurst was employed as a school bus aid by T&L Transportation. He's charged with aggravated sexual assault, three counts of sexual assault and endangering a child.
Prosecutor Warren Faulk says the alleged crimes were committed against a very young Waterford Elementary School student inside the school van, even as other students were present.
Investigators from Camden County have been talking to a small number of children who attend the Waterford Elementary School to see if any were assaulted and, right now, there appears to be just one alleged case.
"It was reported by the family to the transportation company who immediately reported it to Waterford Police," said Faulk.
Parents were incensed on Wednesday night when they were called to a meeting about the alleged incidents, unsure if their children had any contact with Dean.

"It is the worst nightmare for those of us who parents trust with their children. We take that responsibility very seriously. This has rocked our world and we have many, many staff members who are deeply upset," said Superintendent Gary Dentino.
Dean is also the manager of a Chesilhurst mobile home park. Action News spoke off-camera with his wife, who believes her husband is falsely accused. She says he told her that the child had wet herself and removed her own underpants.
Dean's wife went on to say her husband has a heart condition and suffered a heart attack when he was arrested. The prosecutor would only confirm that Dean is in custody, but hospitalized.
His bail is set at $100,0000 but the prosecutor is moving to increase that amount.
