Pulling for a good cause

NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE - April 18, 2010

Teams of good hearted volunteers took turns and grabbed hold of a rope to pull a 100,000 pound National Guard C-130 transport plane Sunday.

With 20 members on a team, the idea was to move the huge plane 12 feet in the shortest amount of time possible.

The annual plane pull benefits the work of the Special Olympics Delaware.

Who won? Well, all of the children served by the Special Olympics.

The event raised some $17,000 today.

But a group of Verizon workers won the plane pull contest. They got the plane to roll 12 feet in just under 7 seconds.
