Phila. house fire kills young woman

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - April 22, 2010

Two other women in the home managed to escape the flames.

The fire broke out on Thursday morning at about 4:00 in a house on the 2800 block of Lardner Street.

When firefighters arrived they found the second floor of the home engulfed in flames and thick clouds of smoke.

While battling the blaze, firefighters found the body of the victim on the second floor.

Investigators have not yet released 21-year-old victim's name.

It took about 30 minutes to gain control of the flames.

Firefighters did find one smoke alarm, but it did not have a battery in it.

So far, there's no word on a cause.
