Suspect uses axe in laundromat robbery

NEWARK, Del. - April 23, 2010

The incident happened at the Surf and Suds on Elkton Road in Newark.

Police say the man used a screwdriver to steal quarters from the coin boxes on the machines.

However, that didn't work.

So he went to his truck and got an axe.

The suspect netted between $30 and $50, but caused $10,000 in damage.

The theft happened on April 16th, but the signs of the costly damage still exist at the business.

The owner of Surf and Suds told Action News he was glad no one walked in while the crook was at work.

If you know anything about the theft you are asked call Delaware Crime Stoppers.
