Passengers affected by volcano may see money

The European Union's Passengers Rights legislation covers any airline flying out of Europe, as well as any passenger on those flights, regardless of nationality.

The law requires airlines to reimburse stranded travelers for expenses including hotel costs, meals, and some phone calls.

If you think you qualify for money back, contact your airline's customer service department or contact EUclaim. It'll handle the paperwork for a 27-percent commission.

Also, before you book with a third-party discounter, check the price on the carrier's website or call to see if the airline will match the price. That way, if something does happen, it'll be easier to deal with customer service and get a refund. LINKS: http://ec.europa.eu/transport/passengers/contact/index_en.htm http://www.euclaim.com/

Going green parking spaces

Hotels and businesses are offering freebies and discounts for going green, including specially designated spaces for fuel-efficient vehicles.

The Bank of America on City Line Avenue offers reserved parking right up front.

The Adventure Aquarium in Camden offers hybrid parking only spots right next to their handicapped spaces.

And did you know hybrid vehicles are allowed to use the HOV lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike?

Plus, don't miss out on hotel perks. Many Kimpton hotels offer free or discounted parking for hybrid vehicles and an additional easy green room rebate per night. Hybrid vehicles park for free at Renaissance hotels as well.
