Nine homes targeted by burglar in NJ

DELANCO, N.J. - April 26, 2010

Now, investigators have released a sketch of the suspect in hopes of finding the man on a neighborhood crime spree.

Jim Barthold and his wife were away for the weekend when they got a call saying their house had been ransacked and burglarized.

"The drawers were open, papers all over, some of her jewelry stolen," Barthold said.

The break-ins and burglaries happened last weekend in Delanco. In at least two cases the suspect fled when victims awoke to find him inside their homes.

"It appears he's a pretty strong person because he's taking the door right off the frame and some of them have deadbolts locked. So, he's pretty dangerous person," said Det. Adam Tilger of the Delanco Police.

Residents are being urged to keep doors and windows locked, watch for anyone suspicious in their neighbor hoods--and call police if they see the suspect.

He is described as a black man, 25 to 30 years old with black hair and brown eyes. He's about 6'2" tall and weighs about 190 pounds.
