A church panel hearing was scheduled for Tuesday in Wilmington in the case of 66-year-old Charles E. Bennison Jr.
Bennison was defrocked in 2008 after being convicted in a church trial of concealing a sexual relationship between his married brother and a 14-year-old girl in the 1970s.
The church court found Bennison guilty of conduct unbecoming a clergy member.
Bennison lost previous appeals arguing that his sentence was too harsh, and that he should be granted a new trial because letters that subsequently were uncovered contradict witness testimony and show that the victim herself tried to hide the relationship.
