Man shot, wounded by police in Burlington Co.

CHESTERFIELD TWP., N.J. - May 4, 2010

It happened just before 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at 46 Bordentown-Chesterfield Road.

Authorities tell Action News that two Chesterfield officers responded to the house for a report of a "disturbed man."

When police arrived they entered the house and the suspect, a 26-year-old, lunged at the officers with a knife.

One officer suffered an arm injury. The other officer fired shots at the suspect, critically wounding him.

The suspect was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for surgery. The officer injured was not seriously hurt.

The Burlington County Prosecutors Office is investigating.
