"Liliana was a sweetheart," her cousin Kenny Gomez said. "We called her 'Smiles' because of the great smile she kept on her face."
Liliana was tragically killed in a hit & run accident Saturday night just after 11pm as she was getting out of her car in the 200 block of Erie Ave.
"The car just came out of nowhere and struck her and left her right here where we're standing to die," her cousin Maria Adames told Action News.
For the last 8 or 9 years, Acevedo worked as an admissions clerk at St. Joseph's Hospital. Many of her co-workers remember her fondly: "She was so talented, she could sing, she wrote poetry, everybody on the job loved her," said Lucinda Brown.
Tuesday night, friends & relatives passed out flyers to motorists letting them know about the accident which involved someone driving an older model white Oldsmobile.
"I'm angry because the coward won't come forward to give the family closure," George Barabin her co-worker said.
