"Race for the Cure" kicks off Sunday morning

PHILADELPHIA - May 5, 2010

The Susan G. Komen Foundation's Race for the Cure brings more than 125,000 people out to raise money to fight breast cancer.

Last year's race brought in $3.5 million. A quarter of that went to national headquarters to fund research, while the rest stayed local to help patients in need.

You may think of breast cancer as a women's disease, but men are vulnerable, too. Proceeds from the race fund programs for them as well.

The Race for the Cure is set for Sunday, May 9th, to start at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Ceremonies begin at 8:00 a.m. followed by the race.
