Burglary suspect faces more charges, assault

ABINGTON, Pa. - May 7, 2010

On Friday April 2, 2010, Abington Police arrested 46-year-old Keith Ivy of Philadelphia for burglarizing a residence in the 2000 block of Old Welsh Road.

Ivy was charged with burglary, receiving stolen property, theft and related charges. He was arraigned and sent to Montgomery County Prison in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.

Following his arrest, search warrants were served on several locations in Philadelphia which yielded stolen property which was identified as having been stolen from other burglaries in Abington Township which occurred during the first four months of the year.

Police say subsequent investigation has linked Ivy to still more burglaries in Abington and Upper Moreland Townships. These included two burglaries that occurred on January 20, 2010 on Highland Avenue in Abington. In one of those cases, a resident was home and was beaten by Ivy inside the home.

As a result, Ivy was charged Friday with nine additional counts of burglary, theft, and receiving stolen property as well as one count each of robbery, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and related charges for the incident where the homeowner was beaten.

He was arraigned on the new charges and returned to Montgomery County Prison to await his preliminary hearing which will be held on May 19th.
