Officials say the 35-to-40-foot gray whale has made its way back out to sea after spending a few hours at Dana Point harbor.
The whale popped into the bay yesterday afternoon, and headed back out to more spacious waters after a couple of hours.
A biologist at the Ocean Institute says he's worried about the whale, because its behavior is suspect.
Tim Sullivan notes the whale's body was encrusted with barnacles and lice - indicating it may have spent too much time in warm waters.
