Pa. man pleads guilty in toddler's drug death

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - May 11, 2010

Twenty-nine-year-old Ian Kohn pleaded guilty to third-degree murder on Monday in Chester County Court. Kohn admitted he had mixed drugs like methadone and Ambien into drinks for his 23-month-old son, Joey, to keep him quiet.

The boy was pronounced dead in March 2009 after being found unresponsive in the basement of a Charlestown home. An autopsy found the drug levels in the boy's blood were nine times what would normally kill a child his size.

Kohn had been charged with first-degree murder, but Deputy District Attorney Elizabeth Pitts says she doesn't think Kohn intended to kill his son.
