Train and minivan collide in New Jersey

RIVERTON, N.J. - May 13, 2010

It happened around 10:45 .m. near the intersection of Broad and Main streets.

Police say the female driver of the minivan was taken to Cooper University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A woman who was five months pregnant was taken for observation. A one-year-old child was also in the van, but did not appear to be hurt.

Investigators say it appears the driver made a left turn in front of the Riverline train, despite the fact the lights and gates were activated and engaged properly. The train's horn also sounded, police said.

12 of the 60 passengers on the train suffered minor neck and back injuries.

Service on the Riverline was restored around 12:20pm and was back to a normal schedule by 1pm.
