Motorists are paying less at the pumps in New Jersey.
AAA Mid-Atlantic said Friday that the average price of regular gasoline in the Garden State was $2.64, a five-cent drop from a week ago.
That's still higher than a year ago, when New Jersey motorists were paying $2.40.
But AAA spokeswoman Tracy Noble noted that prices have dropped 20 cents in the past month.
The national average price also fell this week, dropping by 2 cents to $2.73. The national average a year ago was $2.57.
Noble said that if economic troubles persist in Europe and China, it's unlikely summer gas prices will reach the widely predicted $3 a gallon level.
