Authorities believe Lamont Gadson of Jackson was driving the car that hit 36-year-old Angelo Vasile, a Harvey Cedars police officer, as he rode his motorcycle in Lakewood on May 8.
The car involved in the collision was found abandoned not far from the crash site, and an investigation revealed 37-year-old Gadson owned the vehicle.
He was initially arrested May 8 on outstanding warrants unrelated to the accident. He was rearrested Thursday afternoon and charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash and driving with a suspended license.
It was not immediately known if Gadson had retained a lawyer.
