It happened around 1:30 a.m. at intersection of 59th Street and Lansdowne Avenue.
Homicide detectives say the victim, 21-year-old Don McGill and his girlfriend were walking to a bus stop when a car pulled up and a man got out.
Police say he and McGill exchanged words, then the man shot McGill repeatedly.
Police don't believe McGill and his killer knew each other.
McGill was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the killer sped off, heading north on 59th Street in a dark-colored Pontiac Grand Prix.
