Fire kills toddler, injures babysitter

CHESTER, Pa. - May 21, 2010

Police say the 4-year-old was at home with his babysitter when the fire broke out just after 8:00 p.m. Friday.

Within two to three minutes, police and fire crews arrived to the home on the 1100 block of Terrill Street in Chester.

Firefighters say when they gained access to the home they found the 4-year-old boy dead in his bedroom on the second floor.

The babysitter, identified as a female relative, suffered severe burns on her hands. She is being treated at Chester-Crozer Hospital.

The family has not been allowed back in the home.

Members of the Red Cross and the family's mosque are helping the heartbroken family.

Investigators have not determined where the fire started, or what sparked it.
