The incident happened along the 1500 block of West Tioga Street at 6:28 p.m.
Police responded to a report of a person with a gun.
Once at the residence, police encountered two men fighting over a gun. The men refused to drop the gun.
During the confrontation, both police officers shot their weapons once.
One man was shot in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second man was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead hours later at Temple University Hospital.
The incident has been turned over to Police Internal Affairs.
