Officials said the power outage affected about 2,700 Lancaster city residents around 6:30 a.m. Thursday. Two elementary schools also delayed the start of classes for two hours because they had no electricity.
PPL spokesman John Levitski said there was a tree down in the same area but the culprit in the power outage was much smaller: a squirrel that chewed on overhead power lines.
Levitski said electricity was restored by about 8:30 a.m.
