Small plane goes down in Pa. river; 2 rescued

CHESTER, Pa. (AP) - May 29, 2010

Chester Fire Department Battalion Chief Tony Capasso says the SeaRey plane from Wilmington, Del., was practicing landing and takeoff maneuvers when it got into trouble at about 11 a.m. Saturday.

Although the mishap occurred on the New Jersey side of the river, a rescue boat from Chester, Pa. was dispatched and rescued the two men aboard. They were taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center, where a hospital spokesman said they were still being evaluated but would probably be treated and released.

Coast Guard spokesman Jonathan Lindberg says a Coast Guard rescue boat was also dispatched to the scene.

As of Saturday night, Action News has learned Sea Two was able to bring up the plane from under water using a crane.

The company then towed it to the Harbor Light Yacht Cub in Tinicum.
