The knighted 67-year-old pop star will be honored with Washington's highest award for pop music this week by the Library of Congress.
On Tuesday, he was scheduled to discuss his first major lifetime
achievement award from the U.S. government at the library.President Barack Obama will present the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song on Wednesday at a concert in the East Room of the White House.
The Jonas Brothers, Faith Hill, Stevie Wonder and Jerry Seinfeld are part of an all-star lineup that will honor McCartney. The concert will be televised July 28 nationwide on PBS.
