Officials identified Harold R. Miller Jr., of Reading, as the man who drove the wrong way on Route 222, causing a five -car chain-reaction crash on Thursday morning.
Police said Miller was driving north in the southbound lanes in Linesville, near Reading, when the crash occurred. Miller's car struck another head-on and crashed into a guard rail after witnesses say he drove into the flow of traffic for several miles.
Four other people involved in the crash were taken to hospitals. Authorities did not identify them or release their conditions.
Police are trying to determine if Miller was confused.
