From a car to parts in less than five minutes

PHILADELPHIA - June 11, 2010

Once the demonstration starts, the hood is off in just a few seconds. In no time at all it's onto the interior, ripping off doors, pulling out seats and taking off wheels.

In four minutes and 59 seconds, three guys with a few power tools transform a 1999 Honda Civic into a pile of rubble.

It was certainly an eye-opener for the Center City crowd surrounding All State Insurance Company's "Stripped In Seconds Campaign," but speed is not the only thing that surprised them.

"This car here is worth more to a thief in its current form, with all the parts lying around, than put together," said Brett Ludwig with All State.

For example, the seat could be worth a hundred dollars, $125 each for alloy wheels and $75 dollars for a tail light.

So remember to lock your doors, because your car could be reduced to spare parts in the blink of an eye.
